Out & About

Sarah has had a couple of really good days. We took a trip to the Cincinnati Zoo yesterday. Sarah walked most of it and if you have been to the Cincy Zoo you know what a challenge that would be for her. All the kids had a really good time. After the zoo we went out for dinner and then shopping. Sarah was completely exhausted and went to bed shortly after we got home.

Our plan was for Sarah to go to church today, but we forgot to change our clocks for daylight savings time so we got up too late to get everyone ready. I am sure we will make it next week.

We praise God for the good days Sarah is having and pray that she has no more bad ones. Maybe she can go back to school this week.

Just An Update

Well Sarah is having good times and some rough times still. She felt fine most of the day yesterday, but vomited a lot after lunch and a tiny bit after dinner. She did feel fine and wanted to eat before going to bed.

She is having school today at home. Hopefully that goes well. I hate to see her get too far behind with her education. She is already going to have to have school after her class in out for summer break.

Back To The Ups

Sarah had a great day yesterday. She didn’t get to go to church, but she felt good all day. She is having a pretty good day so far playing with her sister and grandmother. She didn’t have any naps yesterday. I am not sure if that is a pattern or not. I am going to keep praying for more ups and less downs. I would love to see Sarah get back to school soon. It is nerve racking just thinking about sending her to school during the flu season. We will just have to keep getting feelers from her school nurse about the health of everyone. She just doesn’t need any unnecessary risks.

Out For Pizza

Sarah had a couple of really good days, so we thought we would try and go out for pizza with her friend Marissa and her family. We are not sure why but she vomited on the way to the restaurant. We didn’t think that she had anything in her stomach since it was so long after lunch. We did just wake her from a nap right before we left. We are trying to figure out if there is a pattern to when she gets sick. We went on to the pizza place to try out luck, but it ran out as we were getting ready to leave. She got sick before we left and then again on the way home. We were hoping that she could get back to church tomorrow, but now I am not sure if she is really ready for it yet.

The glamour shot below was taken a few minutes before she got sick.

Another Good Day

One of the perks of working at the hospital is that I get to run into some of the neurologists that treated Sarah. They always want to know how she is doing. I ran into one of the attending and one of the fellow neurologists today. They both asked me how she was doing straight away.

Sarah had a good day today helping her mom around the house (at least that is what she said she did). She hasn’t vomited today, so that is two days in a row. She says that her belly feels fine. She is starting to really enjoy playing the Wii and she is improving all the time.

Stitches Out

Sarah got her stitches out yesterday, and then went straight to therapy. She is healing fine and had a good day yesterday. She played her wii last night before she went to bed. I went in to check on her before she went to sleep and all she had to say was “I am tired”.

Resting and Relaxing

Sarah is resting well at home. She had done pretty well since coming home and is becoming more active every day. She has only vomited once since being home, but that was our fault for letting her eat too much when she had a friend over. She still has to watch eating too much at one sitting. I am not sure how long it will take for her digestive system to get back to normal.

What They Removed

I put together a little something to show everyone how much of Sarah’s left hemisphere was removed. Click here to watch

Adjusting Well

Sarah is doing well at home. She slept most of the day yesterday after getting home. She did wake me up a couple times last night. One time was at 3:00am to tell me that she was hungry. I was so delirious that I got up and gave her some cereal.

Now that she is at home I catch myself staring at her waiting for a seizure. It sounds silly, but I know I won’t be able to relax about that for a long time.

Take Me Home

Sarah was discharged after lunch today. She is doing well except for her slow digestive mobility, but it should get back to normal in time. Kim had to make a slew of follow up appointments for the next couple of months, so Sarah will be busy. She will be back in therapy next week and hopefully back in school in a couple of weeks.

She had some therapy right before she left today so she was really tired. She told us that she wanted a Big Mac, so I am sure her mom made that happen on the way home.

May the Lord keep her from coming back except to visit.
